I Just Want To Be TWO!

Well it happened and now it's over....  My little love turned three and might I add ever so gracefully!  I can hardly believe that three years ago I became a mother.  The scariest but also the most splendid part of my life.  If you were to ask Macie what she thought about turning three she would tell you  "I just want to be two"!  The morning of her party, as we pulled into the Play Boutique,  Macie asked from the back seat "Mommy when I walk in the doors do I turn three"?  Turning three does not have much appeal yet because she simply loves everything about being two.

The Piggy Princess party went smashingly and it was great to see Macie having such a wonderful time.  I was actually quite shocked with how well things came together.  We had in total twenty toddlers, their parents and some added family.  They all seemed to enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere.  The face painter we hired was not a huge hit and something I would recommend for older children but since we had a few older sibs it wasn't a total wash.  Overall, it was a great day filled with wonderful memories that I know we won't forget and will be able to talk about with Macie for many more years.

Those are just a few of the pics of the main table setting and one of the birthday girl but gives you the general idea!  The party favors were gable boxes that I customized and filled with retro goodies and party favors.  Each princess was given a lace crown that I made a few weekends before the party and princes received a foam sword.

I promised a few posts on how I made many of the items for the party but if you have questions feel free to message me and I'll try to get on it a bit quicker.  Leaving you with a few final birthday party pictures and next time I'll fill you in on the actually day of birth celebrations (hint...first hair cut)!

Times they are a changin......

Change is something that can be scary, overwhelming and can evoke a great deal of emotion.  I realize now how silly it is that for the past 15 years I have avoided change like the plague especially when it comes to my hair.  My sister said to me recently that I should take a chance and that I can't let my hair define who I am.  It was then that I realized for most of my adult life it has. What did I do next? I took a chance and changed it.  I have to remind myself now "by changing nothing, nothing changes"- Robbinson

I leave you with some before and after phone pics so you can witness my change and maybe it will inspire you or you can think I am crazy:)

Love that smiley girl :)
This is from a few months ago....I'm on the right

Not the best after pics but you can at least see the change.....

Third times a charm!

Time has come and gone again which means I have failed at keeping up this blog! Heck, I only got two posts up this last time and then I quit.  There is something about blogging that is intimidating to me which is silly.  It could be that in my head I think everyone will analyze every word that I write or that it will be completely uninteresting but I have decided I don't care anymore.  So here it goes again...ya know what they say? Third times a charm (I hope)!

For the past two years I have drooled over all the fancy cameras that my friends, family and even random strangers on the street have been using.  Our camera was a simple point and shoot we purchased on clearance at Sears like a million years ago.  So today I officially joined the crazy posse of people who own fancy cameras that they probably don't even know how to use.  We committed  to getting a new, fancy schmancy camera.  After doing research for ages we decided to go with the Nikon d3200

So far I love it and hopefully will take a class in the future so I can learn how to use the damn thing!  Below are a few of the first pics we snapped to use for Macie's 3rd birthday party invitations....a post on the upcoming bash shall appears soon and probably more than once :)

The new shoes Macie picked out when we were shopping this weekend and she is a bit obsessed with them now.  I'm talking sleep in bed, talk about them to the dogs and describing them to "friends" on her purple phone obsessed!
This face is literally the only face she will make in pictures these days....

Always Waiting on Sunday

Sunday and I have always had a love-hate relationship.  Typically,  they are pretty enjoyable days (like today) but they end too soon and back to the grind we go.  Today was a great day filled with a much needed visit from my mom and Macie's bff "Vicki Grandma".  It is quite funny how she is always changing what she calls her but at least she is finally throwing in the Grandma title on occasion.  We spent the day having a fabulous lunch, taking the wagon to the park, feeding the ducks and then playing at the house until dinner time.  I love when she comes up for the day because it just makes for a perfect weekend for everyone in the family.  (Below are a couple of pics from our little day around town).

If you know me then you also know I have an addiction to Pinterest (hopefully like everyone else).  It has been great for discovering new, healthy recipes and finding fun crafts to do with Miss Macie.   I'm sure you will get to experience my love for "pinning" in the near future.  Anyways, tonight after putting Macie to bed I sat down next to Saul on the couch and what did I see on the computer screen???? Manteresting......yes that is right... the dudes version of Pinterest.  I was shocked for two reasons. 1) He gives me a great deal of slack for time spent on Pinterest. 2) The ridiculous amount of enthusiasm he displayed when talking about his new find. Yeah, that's right I said enthusiasm.  If you get a chance check out Manteresting.com and let me know what you think.  Well, that is all for the night. I am off to spend some much needed time doing good ole' homework!

Well here it is......the first post.  I have given a great deal of thought to what I might say but that was apparently a huge waste of time.  Similar to my many papers in grad school.  I'll spend time leading up to the due date planning in my head what I'm going to write about but then life happens and I end up throwing it together at the last minute (procrastination?).  Luckily, this has lead to straight A's and the internship of my dreams next year.  So this post will be of the same nature so please bare with me.

It's Saturday here and less than sunny.  It has been kind of strange day which is perfect because it was a long, strange week.  We ventured to target this morning to pick up some new Thomas the Train undies for Macie because well.... the girl likes Thomas.  I mean really likes Thomas the train but is terrified of real trains (long story).  While we were there, we purchased a bike pump to use on my jogger since it currently has a flat.  I'm trying to commit to a 30 day health/fitness challenge starting May 1st and with nice weather coming the jogger is essential.  For this challenge, I'm giving up soda (hopefully permanently but let's not get ahead of ourselves now) and also candy.  I'll keep you guys updated on how it goes and post some recipes that have become staples of healthy eating for our family.

I'll end this with a proud mama moment from today right before Macie fell asleep for her nap.  After she asked to get naked for the third time (a current obsession)... she sang me the ABC's.  Seriously, the whole darn song!!! My mouth practically dropped open because I had no clue she could sing the whole song!  It is amazing how quickly she is growing up and it shocks me everyday because she is wicked smart.  Tomorrow "Vicki, Vicki" aka Grandma Vicki comes to visit and it should be a fabulous end to our weekend. Have a great Saturday night!
